Faith, Power, and the gift of tongues.

Sweating in the field with Elder Sibaja

Whew, what a week it's been! Elder Sibaja and I are getting along really well and this area and our investigators are all progressing! This past week has been one full of teaching, driving, and walking. 2 of our investigators accepted to work toward the 26th of August to be baptized, another one is still doing amazing and came to another baptism, and we even have another one that is reading the BOM and praying, and the others we are still just trying to get rolling. We had the opportunity to go the temple Thursday, boy how wonderful is it to break from the world for a few hours and just be free! We are to know, to learn, and to act. It's stinking hard to act a lot of the time, but that is how we grow. God has blessed us with the Gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ, to help us act, know, and learn. Through the Holy Ghost we are able to access special gifts that can help us grow, succeed, and communicate. I love the gift of tongues and interpretation of! It's really been a big tool the past week and I testify of the love the God has for ALL of His children! Let us be full of faith and hope therefore leading us to action! Full week

Our district

Holy cow! What a crazy week it has been, full of awesome new investigators, crazy lightening and drunk guys, transfers, and an awkward baptism. We had been trying to see this member referral for the past two transfers when this last week we were able to finally have a sit down lesson with the parents and 2 of the kids! We committed them to church and they came that Sunday!!! Other than them not actually being married, they are progressing well. We also found out another one of our investigators is not married, so that will push back the date, but she is still coming to church and she just went for a temple tour! We also had a baptism in the District this week, the sisters investigator got baptized Saturday, it was kinda of awkward because there wasn't enough water so he had to sit! Kinda funny but still super spiritual.

The weather was nuts also, some legit lightening tried to fry Elder Ibarra and I while out knocking doors but we found this one drunk Mexican to talk to, so we stayed out of the majority of the weather. I went on exchanges back up to Sunnyside with Elder Mckeon and that was fun. I will be taking over the area with Elder Sibaja as my new comp. Super pumped for this next transfer!

Drummin' in the heat

July 10th
Well once again it's P-day and this transfer is almost already over! I've been out now a little over 9 months and I still have no idea what I'm doing LOLZ. Well first off it was flippin' hot this week, nothing like sweat marks and tan lines! One of our investigators is coming to church and has accepted to be baptized on the 30th of this month! She is such a sweet woman and is very understanding of the Gospel. We found some new investigators this week also so I'm excited to continue to work with them and hopeful progress them towards repentance and peace. OHHHHHHH something super cool as far as worldly things go, it happened last P-day when we started proselyting. Elder Ibarra and I were out knocking doors when the slight sound of drums touched my ears, immediately my interest was spiked as I know a little something of the drum game. I narrowed the sound down to two doors and we knocked one...and sure enough the sound of heaven was coming from that door! A fellow opened the door and he proudly exclaimed that he's gay.  I asked if I could play his drums and he said of course and we actually had a short little jam session with his boyfriend and the missionaries! Hearts were softened towards the church and I walked away with a massive smile on my face! Even though we don't realize it our actions are seen, and we should do our best to constantly be looking for opportunities to share the gospel and soften hearts.

Exchanges and Minis

Exchanges with Elder Simpson
July 3rd
Life is passing quicker than an F-35 as it breaks mach 6.... This was a good week. I don't have much time to type, we have had a busy p-day so far. I went up to Sunnyside Tuesday for an exchange and that was fun. Sunnyside is the most dangerous area in Houston so it was exciting. We had a mini-missionary with us from Friday to Sunday. He was a good kid. We have people on date and the work is moving forward! God lives and with Him and His son we can do anything!
